Literary Road is an online ebook publisher that publishes fiction that falls into any category. Unlike most other online publishing companies, it doesn't specialize in romance or require any romantic content in its short stories, novels and novellas.
The Ebook Publishers' Accepted Genres
There are several different lines within the Literary Road publishing company. These include Coffee Break, an outlet for short stories of any genre. These submissions should be fewer than 10,000 words. Another short fiction line, Short Path Edition, is the online publisher's home for novellas of 10,000 to 20,000 words. The novellas can fall within any genre.
Hodge Podge Press is a newer imprint of Literary Road that will feature a separate website and focus on supernatural fiction. This includes supernatural romance, mystery, science fiction and fantasy novels. The main Literary Road line publishes mystery, romance and general fiction ebooks. Unlike most print and ebook publishers, it also publishes poetry.
Publishing an Ebook With Literary Road
While the Literary Road imprint cover a broad range of topics, there are a few unpleasant subjects, including suicide, that are not allowed to be prominent features of the published works. Submit with a full manuscript if the submission is a short story and with a summary and first three chapters if the submission is for a longer work. All submissions must be done via email.
The works published by Literary Road are generally published in ebook form, but the publisher also offers some works in print. The rights to each book are negotiated on the basis of either electronic or print rights. A writer who publishes a book in electronic form through Literary Road retains the print rights to the book.
Publishing a Book in Print
Writers can choose their publication format. Each writer is given a contract for either an ebook or a print book and is given a contract that pertains only to those rights. The print books are offered through the Barnes and Noble website and through Amazon, among others. They can also be found in brick-and-mortar bookstores like Borders as well as in libraries.
Get Paid to Write Ebooks
Writers get paid to write with Literary Road through royalty percentages only. Like Ellora's Cave, Sugar and Spice Press, Torquere Press and most other online publishers, it does not offer an up-front payment upon publication.
Literary Road offers writers 40 percent of the purchase price of the ebooks purchased through the site. If the ebook is sold through any other website, the writer gets 50 percent of Literary Road's profits from each sale. Writers are paid their royalties quarterly.
