Internet publishing is big business right now, particularly in romance novel publishing. Online publishing companies are publishing books online in record numbers.

Many publishing companies have sprung up online because of the lower cost of doing business over the Internet and the growing number of customers who want to buy their books online. Online book publishing through Awe-Struck results in a digital book that is available online to romance novel fans.

Romance Novel Genres

There are several romance genres that are accepted by Awe-Struck Publishing. These include mystery, contemporary, suspense, historical, interracial regency and inspirational romance novels. Awe-Struck does allow same-sex romance books.

Sweet Romance

Romance novel publishing companies have different types of romance novels, often categorized by the level of eroticism in the novels. There are no explicit erotic scenes allowed in an Awe-Struck romance novel. Many of the novels are what romance publishing companies often call a romance novel that has no sex scenes or only implied scenes. Awe-Struck publishing prefers romance books that have a happy ending.

Sweet romance novels are allowed by Awe-Struck Publishing as well as sensual romance. This allows a romance novel to have detailed erotic scenes that are not graphic and are not used gratuitously. Awe-Struck has a separate erotic romance imprint called Phaze that those works can be submitted to.

Publishing Books With Awe-Struck

All of Awe-Struck's novels are full-length books of about 40,000 to 80,000 words. The publisher allows simultaneous submissions to other Internet publishing companies, but asks that writers notify Awe-Struck if the submitted works is signed with any other publishing companies.

All submissions to the publisher must be made through email. A writer can submit several titles to Awe-Struck for online publishing with one manuscript sent with each submission email. Each manuscript must be an RTF attachment. Writers can expect to hear back about their manuscripts in about 60 to 90 days.

Internet Publishing

Like most online book publishing companies, there are no advances given to romance novel authors who publish through Awe-Struck. Authors are paid a flat 45 percent of the net of each romance novel. While all Awe-Struck novels are published in ebook format, some are later chosen to appear in print as well. Print books earn a 15 percent royalty on the net of each book.

Internet publishing appeals to many writers because the large number of online publishing companies and the low cost to each publisher often makes it easier to get accepted for publication. Some print authors also choose online publishing to reprint romance novels that have gone out of print. An increasing number of buyers prefer online publishing because their digital book readers make reading a romance novel inexpensive and convenient.
