There You Go - D. Shepherd

I am a freelance writer specializing, for now, in Web writing. The Web is an enormous place and I have been carving out my own little places within it.

I have a BA in journalism that has led me along a winding career path. After college I worked as a reporter for a small daily paper as one of its five reporters. There was no copy department and no photographers. I had to take my own photos and edit my own copy. The result was that I made the front page nearly every day and ended up being nominated for an AP award for photography. Heady stuff for a cub, but it was a great ride.

After working there for some time, I left to continue a small business I had built up on the side. That business became successful enough to support the fam with, but my writing had been pushed aside. There comes a time when you have to choose between your dreams and what's comfortable. I chose to go back to writing and haven't looked back. Writing is what I was meant to do, and I won't be turning away from it again. Fortunately, Web writing is an evolving art form that's growing rapidly as people increasingly get their information online.
